Personal profile

Marisa Bernotti was born in Montevideo in 1978 and has lived most of her life in the rural town of Dolores, Soriano, Uruguay. She is a multidisciplinary artist, mother, and entrepreneur. Her work encompasses painting, drawing, collage, performance, and installation, and emerges from the daily practice of writing and drawing in her diary, where she allows ideas and characters to flow from her subconscious.
Bernotti hold a degree in economics and was selected as one of Uruguay´s 50 leading women in 2025 for the SW50 program, receiving a scholarship from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), United Kingdom. She has participated in artist-in-residence programs internationally, including Barac (Germany), Peoria Art Guild (Illinois, USA), and the School of Visual Arts in New York (USA).
Bernotti's works have been exhibited in museums, universities, and galleries in the Americas, Europe, and Oceania. Her work is included in the permanent collection of King's College, Cambridge, London, United Kingdom; as well as in the collection of the Riverfront Museum in Peoria and the Pinacoteca de la Ciudad de Mercedes, Department of Culture of Soriano, Uruguay.
She is an active member of the international collectives I FOUND U and TELEPORTAL, as well as the local collective INVASION ARTÍSTICA.

2013 The board of the department of Soriano gives him the recognition "For the cause of Soriano" for his fundamental contribution to the development and prestige of the terroir in artistic and cultural activity.
Bernotti's works are found in private and public collections in the United States, England, Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany, such as the Jeff & John Heintzman collections and the University of Cambridge.
